Outdoor Gardens
The gardens will cover over two hectares composed of 20 thematic gardens showcasing the diversity of the natural and biocultural landscapes of Western Mexico. The high biological diversity of this region is the result of ecological, climatic, marine, cultural and orographic convergences, including the Sierra Madre del Sur and Occidental, the Transverse Neovolcanic Axis, the Altiplano and the Coastal Plain, whose environmental dynamics are influenced by the Pacific Ocean. On the rooftop, there will be two thousand square meters of gardens with over 400 species of native plants from Western Mexico, making it one of the most biodiverse green rooftops in Latin America.
The landscape project that will give life to the gardens of the Museum of Environmental Sciences has been internationally recognized with the gold medal in Landscape Design of the Global Futures Design Award 2023, as well as the Better Future New York Design Awards 2023, the DNA Paris Design Awards 2023 and the Architecture & Design Community Awards 2023, in the areas of sustainability and landscaping.
