Coast Gallery

The coast is a landscape of global connections, witnessing the major intersections between the ocean, land and the atmosphere. The coast hosts the tropical vegetation of this region of Mexico, including mangroves located at the river deltas. Here, cold California and warm Equatorial Ocean currents converge, affecting marine migrations and even contributing to global economic globalization. This gallery will showcase elements of the coastal region of the states of Nayarit, Colima and Jalisco, as well as islands with different origins such as Las Marías, Las Marietas and the Revillagigedo Archipelago. The natural beauty of the coast is threatened by tourism, pollution and maritime resource extraction.
