Altiplano Gallery
In the Altiplano gallery, we will explore the arid region that stretches from Guanajuato to Aguascalientes. Its primary emphasis will be on us, 'the people,' our history and our culture. Through powerful sensory experiences, we will perceive the transition to a dry landscape where flora, fauna and human communities have had to adapt to the harsh climate. In this gallery, we will explore cultural adaptations and historical processes that shape the identity of West Central Mexico today. Despite its water scarcity, this region is known as the “agricultural giant” of Mexico and includes industrial and mining corridors that have transformed the country. Agricultural and urban demand are constant in this territory, leading to the dangerous depletion of aquifers.
